Carol Johnson, OTR/L, CLT-LANA

Carol L. Johnson OTR/L, CLT-LANA is an Occupational Therapist with 32 years of experience in acute and chronic patient care. As a co-founder of Lymflo Therapies, Inc., a private practice clinic in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she dedicated 9 years of her career to the care and management of lymphedema. She is Vodder trained and is a therapist in good standing with the Lymphatic Association of North America, LANA, the highest recognized level of expertise in the lymphedema world. The practice grew to become one of the most comprehensive and respected treatment centers in the East. Additionally, she has developed a successful lymphedema management regime for patients with the diagnosis of Turners Syndrome and has been a presenter at a national conference for this condition. She has been instrumental in educating the medical community about lymphedema management and has the highest expectations that this specialty will become more recognized as a “main-stay” for all lymphatic conditions. Carol has been a strong recruiter for lymphedema therapists in United States and has been a mentor for many lymphedema therapists through her practice and across the US. She is an advocate for legislative reform with Medicare. Carol is a medical seamstress and certified garment fitter for compression garments. She also is specialized in the care of burn patients after spending 12 years as a therapist in the Jay Cee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.

Additionally, Carol developed the first cardiac rehabilitation program in the San Joaquin Valley in California in the mid-1970’s. She was the first Occupational Therapist hired by her hospital, which went on to include additional therapists for neurology, orthopedics, and general rehabilitation.

Carol has been licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in California, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. She has 3 grown children, and 3 beautiful grand daughters with another one on the way. She and her husband enjoy outdoor activities which include skiing, camping, and traveling, but most of all, enjoy a very active family and social life in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
